Since 1989 the Hispanic Scholars Program has supported the development of Latine/Hispanic and non-Latine/Hispanic students, faculty, administrators, and clergy in religious studies and theological education through our programming in Education, Mentorship, Professional Development, and Public Scholarship.
About Us
Our programming is uniquely situated at the intersection of Latine/Hispanic community, culture and history and religious studies and theological education. At this intersection we aim to center Latine/Hispanic perspectives in higher education, theological education, and the communities led by our alumni. We cultivate these commitments by prioritizing Latine/Hispanic scholarship, history, and leadership models in our programming that are designed and facilitated by Latine/Hispanic experts on topics that engage the Latine/Hispanic community. We further strive to ensure our programming is accessible and responsive to the needs of our community.
In our 35+ year history, the HSP has taught over 2,000 students, provided training for 150+ non-Latine/Hispanic faculty and administrators, and supported the development of countless Latine/Hispanic students, faculty, administrators, and clergy as well as community organizers, philanthropic leaders, artists, and activists. We have significantly expanded the curricular offerings at seminaries and universities across the country through our accredited courses and programs.
